Posture–when, how and why did I assume this posture?
Sloping back, rounded shoulders, not a stance willingly chosen.
In a photograph with younger artists I saw my bent and aging profile,
A question mark where I had thought an exclamation point stood.
My attention had been elsewhere: drawing, writing, gardening,
Reading, pondering, looking, listening, musing, dreaming.
Change came so slowly that I did not see my curling inward,
Leaving the space in which I once stood upright.
