Although the glass slipper she left
At this year’s ball is somewhat orthopedic
Her hot pink pedicure, each toe embellished with a rhinestone,
Dazzled more than one charming prince
Of an appropriate age.
Even though she might prefer a boy toy of 50 or so,
If a 60-year-old royal charmer
Should appear with sparkling footwear
That is her perfect fit she might let herself be swept off her feet
And forgetting her arthritis leap behind him on his steed,
Leaving cinders, broom and apron as she has done every year
When the wand of Fairy Godmother has transformed her, top to toe.
And they’ll gallop toward his castle.
Tomorrow, she’ll be shopping. As any Cinderella knows
a new prince is a good reason to browse for tempting pretties
at Victoria’s Secret.
